3 Spring Veggies That are Good for Your Dog!

asparagus blogMost people consider canines more carnivorous than veggie loving, but the fact is that adding some fresh vegetables to your dog’s diet can really rev up his nutrient consumption. You might be surprised how willing your sweet pup is to gobble up a fresh vegetable as a snack. Below are three spring vegetables that are safe to give your dog as treats!

1. Green Beans: These crispy spring veggies contain a lot of good stuff for dogs including omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium iron, potassium, and beta carotene. So, don’t hesitate to use this nutritional powerhouse of a vegetable as a treat!

2. Spinach: It may be a little difficult to get some dogs to eat raw spinach, but if you can, they’ll surely reap the benefits. Spinach packs a healthy punch of iron and is also known to help ward off inflammatory and cardiovascular issues. Try sneaking a little of this leafy green in with your pup’s wet food.

3. Asparagus: Packed with iron, potassium, fiber, and plenty of important vitamins, asparagus is a great choice for your dog at snack time. Just be sure to cut the asparagus up into bite-sized pieces for easy digestion.

My dogs love asparagus and green beans. How about kale? We have kale in the garden and they can’t get enough. Thanks

Hi Becky. Yes, kale is safe too. It’s great that your dogs willingly eat their veggies!

How about the nutritious yam/sweet potato? Raw, cooked, any way at all, my pooch loved them. Mini carrots, too!

How about raw carrot. Our Shih Tzu’s can’t get enough. But I do limit them.
