Adequan Production to Resume Ahead of Schedule

by VetDepot on August 6, 2013

adequan editedAccording to Luitpold Animal Health and the FDA, the production of Adequan, which is a widely used drug for arthritis treatment in dogs and horses, is predicted to resume at the end of August, 2013.

The production of Adequan was disrupted in 2012 due to renovations and upgrades at the manufacturing plant in Shirley, New York. The disruption has led to widespread shortages of the medication.

Luckily, things have moved along ahead of schedule and instead of the predicted resumption of production date of early 2014, Luitpold Animal health now feels that Adequan production will resume the end of this month.  To stay on top of production news, you can contact Luitpold Animal Health at 1-800-458-0163.

Adequan is a polysulfated glycosaminoglycan approved for use both as an intramuscular injection or an intra-articular Injection (into the joint) to aid in the treatment of non-infectious and/or degenerative joint disease in horses and dogs. This medication should only be used under the guidance of a veterinarian.
