Dasuquin is a relative newcomer to the world of joint supplements for dogs and cats has some distinctive characteristics. Dasuquin is made by Nutramax, which is the same company that has made Cosequin for years. Owners can basically think of Dasuquin as the new and improved version of Cosequin.
What makes Dasuquin special? First, just like Cosequin it contains both glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate, two ingredients proven to help maintain and improve joint health. Also included in Dasuquin, however, are avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) which are oils with anti-inflammatory properties that help prevent cartilage breakdown. Nutramax also makes Dasuquin MSM, which has all of the active ingredients of Dasuquin with the addition of methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), a natural source of sulfur with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties to promote joint and connective tissue repair.
Dasuquin is available as tablets and soft chews for dogs and as a sprinkle capsules for cats. It may take four to six weeks of treatment to see its positive effects, but Dasuquin is a safe way to promote joint health and treat arthritis in both dogs and cats.
