Diamond Pet Foods Issues Dog Food Recall

diamond-pet-foodsDue to possible Salmonella contamination, Diamond Pet Foods is issuing a voluntary recall of its Diamond Naturals Lamb Meal and Rice dog food.

The affected food was distributed to Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.

The recall applies to the following Diamond Naturals Lamb Meal and Rice dog foods:

•6 lb. bag, best before 04 Jan 2013, production code DLR0101D3XALW

•20 lb. bag, best before 13 Jan 2013, production code DLR0101C31XAG

•40 lb. bag, best before 03 Jan 2013, production code DLR0101C31XMF

•40 lbs. bag, best before 03 Jan 2013, production code DLR0101C31XAG

•40 lb. bag, best before 04 Jan 2013, production code DLR0101D32XMS

Pets can contract salmonella infection from consuming affected food. People can also become infected with salmonella from handling affected food and not properly washing their hands immediately after. Symptoms of salmonella infection include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea and fever.

As of now, no illnesses have been reported due to consumption of this product and no other products manufactured by Diamond Pet Foods are believed to be affected. For more information, consumers should contact Diamond Pet Foods at 800-442-0402.
