Family Reunited with Dog 18 Months After Hurricane Sandy

by VetDepot on May 6, 2014

Reckless blogWhen Chuck and Elicia James lost their beloved dog during Hurricane Sandy, they were devastated. They searched for months and months for Reckless, a pit bull terrier mix, but had no luck. Finally, a year and a half later, they decided to fill the hole in their hearts by adopting a new canine companion.

The couple visited the Monmouth County SPCA on May 1 and met with an adoption counselor. They were shocked when the first dog they were introduced to was none other than their own, Reckless. He was a little heavier than they remembered, but between his reaction upon seeing them and a recognizable scar on his head, Chuck and Elicia knew they had found their dog.

It’s no exaggeration to say this was a happy ending for Reckless and his family. The three smiles in the photo say it all!
