Give Your Dog the Gift of Homemade Apple-Cinnamon Dog Treats

cinnamon apple dog treats blog‘Tis the season for holiday treats! Your dog might try to use those big puppy eyes to finagle a few bites of whatever holiday food you’re enjoying, but many human foods contain ingredients that can be harmful to canine companions. So why not let your pup safely join in on the holiday goodies by baking some treats that are safe for doggy consumption? Use your favorite holiday cookie cutters to make this easy recipe for apple cinnamon dog treats into a festive snack for your pooch:

4 Cups Whole Wheat Flour

½ Cup Cornmeal

2 TBLS Canola Oil

1 Cup Grated Apple

1 TSP Cinnamon

1/3 Cup Warm Water

2 Eggs

Chicken Broth

Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Blend in 2 large eggs that have been lightly beaten. Stir in water, oil and apple until the mixture forms into dough. Add chicken broth as needed to get the dough to come together. Knead the dough on a lightly floured work surface until smooth. Then, roll the dough onto the surface and use cookie cutters to cut into fun holiday shapes. Place cookies onto a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake at 325 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until brown and crunchy.
