The ASPCA has declared June as Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month to raise awareness for the millions of cats across the country in need of a forever home. One in twenty dogs and cats in the United States ends up in a shelter. Sadly, 70% of cats that enter a shelter are euthanized due to overpopulation.

To help support Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month, VetDepot has released a Pet Overpopulation Infographic. Spaying and neutering is the number one way to fight overpopulation. Despite the overwhelming number of pets that end up in shelters, 35% of pet owners still opt to not “fix” their pet.
Spaying or neutering your pets, choosing to adopt instead of buy, volunteering at or donating to a local animal shelter, and educating others about pet overpopulation are all great ways to participate in Adopt-A-Shelter-Pet Month! So, spread the word about pet overpopulation by sharing the infographic!
