Novartis Announces the Return of Sentinel Flavor Tabs

by VetDepot on April 22, 2013

novartis 2 editedAccording to Novartis Animal Health, Sentinel is back on the market at a new, low price. Sentinel provides year-round intestinal parasite, heartworm, and flea protection for dogs.

Because of the broader spectrum and competitively priced protection Sentinel now offers, Novartis has announced the discontinuation of Interceptor production for the U.S. market.

Sentinel requires a written prescription from a licensed veterinarian, so consumers should consult with their pet’s veterinarian regarding any change from an existing treatment to Sentinel.

Novartis first announced the suspension in production of several of its products in early 2012, see here.

I’m very disappointed to hear that Interceptor will no longer be offered in the U.S. My dogs are very small and I did not like heartworm medicine that went up to 25 lbs and loved the tiny pills for 10 lbs and under. I live in an area that we do not have fleas (too dry and hot) and do not want to give them any flea prevention medication. One of mine had a severe reaction to Frontline. Any chance I can order Interceptor direct from the manufacturer?

Hi Charlene, although we do not speak for the manufacturer, the last update we received was that Novartis is no longer producing Interceptor for the U.S. market.
