The recall includes certain batches of Hubbard Life Happy Hound Dog Food, Joy Combo Cat Food, and Plus Adult Dog Food. All of the recalled products have a “best by” date of May 6, 2014 or May 7, 2014. The recalled foods were distributed to retailers in 30 different states throughout the country. Symptoms of Salmonella infection in pets include lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever. Veterinary care should be sought if Salmonella infection is suspected.
People who handle contaminated food are also at risk for developing Salmonella infection. Additional symptoms to look out for in humans include fever and abdominal cramping. People exhibiting these symptoms should contact their healthcare provider.
