Urinary Acidifiers

urinary-acidifiersThe urine of both dogs and cats is normally slightly acidic.  This important characteristic helps the urinary tract resist infection and prevents the formation of some types of bladder stones.

Treating dogs and cats with urinary acidifiers, such as uroeze or methigel, can be an important part of dissolving struvite crystals and stones within the urinary tract and preventing their recurrence.  Be sure to talk to your veterinarian before treating your pet with a urinary acidifier.  When used at the wrong dose or to treat the wrong condition, they can actually make your pet’s urinary tract health worse, rather than better.
