Which Dog Breeds Shed the Least?

by VetDepot on August 6, 2014

cute chihuahua blogTo start off, it’s important to note that there is no such thing as a dog that does not shed. Just as humans do, all dogs shed at least a small amount of hair from time to time. However, it is true that some dog breeds tend to shed less than others. Below are six breeds that are known to be light shedders:

1.) Poodle
2.) Bichon Frise
3.) Chihuahua (pictured)
4.) Maltese
5.) Chinese Crested
6.) Yorkshire Terrier

No matter what the breed, there are steps that can be taken to reduce shedding in dogs. Brushing your canine companion regularly can help. Also, opting for a healthy dog food and incorporating a fatty acid supplement into your dog’s routine can boost skin and coat health, which can combat excess shedding.

Schnauzers should be right up there with poodles. They do not shed at all and they are great with people with allergies :-)

I can’t believe schnauzers were not listed. We have a black schnauzer and I never see a black hair
